Have you ever gone into Google Analytics and wanted to quickly setup a new account for a client or yourself? Seems like a pretty common activity. So where’s that button? You know, the one that says, “Create New Account” in the upper right corner? No? Well, that’s because it’s not there. That’s right. If you want to add a new URL to Google Analytics, there’s no obvious way to do it. If it’s been a while, then it’s likely you might actually pull some hair out searching for this button. I’ve heard this simple complaint so many times, I decided it’s time for a quick tutorial. I guarantee if you’ve found yourself here, you’ll be back in a few months when you’re looking for that button again. So bookmark this post. It’s not going anywhere.
Step 1: Login to Google Analytics
You will be taken to your dashboard with the last site you were tracking loaded up.
Step 2: Click the “Create New Account” button in the top right… wait, it’s not there! So scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and at the bottom left, you will see the “Admin” button. Click it and you will be taken to a screen where it shows the account you are currently working in. Click the account dropdown on the left side and you will see, at the bottom of the dropdown field, is “Create New Account”.
Once you’ve clicked the create new account button, you can follow the instructions to setup the new account. That’s the easy part!
