Influencer Marketing – Why it’s important and how to do it
Having spent thousands of hours in the lab developing film in art school, I know how much blood, sweat and tears goes into creating quality content. Quality content is Marketings final frontier. It’s the only thing left. But creating quality content is not enough if nobody can find it. And when I say nobody can find it, I mean because the Internet has so much content, it’s become almost impossible to find what you’re actually looking for.
Enter The Influencer
Influencers by Wikipedia definition are individuals that have influence over potential buyers, and orient marketing activities around this influence.
Influencer Marketing
Influencer Marketing is the term coined from the process of nurturing relationships with influencers who can open up more visibility for your brand, product or campaign. In order to take advantage of the influencers reach, your brand must have something juicy to offer potential buyers that your influencer can share. Branding campaigns can work over time using influence marketers but having an offer that appeals to both your potential buyers as well as the influencers audience is most effective.
How Does Influencer Marketing Work?
There are a number of ways influencers can create a major impact on your brand but we will focus on the three main ways influencers can help expose your brand online.
1. They can write a blog post on your brand
2. They can use their social reach to extend an offer through all of their Social Media accounts
3. They can interview someone from your team on their own website
Influencers are generally respected in their community and looked upon as experts in the field. Their audiences trust them as someone who has used all the products & tried all the services in a particular vertical. They are the filter of what’s quality, what’s cool and what the audience should be looking at. They are essentially a social google. Think about it; Google delivers 1000’s of results for each search. The first page is generally all the businesses following the same best practices and spending the same kind of money on SEO and SEM. But these results are not vetted by users. They are simply part of an algorithm. The Influencer is vetting these results for their audience and delivering “insider deals” directly to their audience. Their audience is then compelled to share these deals because they feel like it is authentic and core and custom-tailored to their interests. Very powerful stuff!
